Scan Engineering (Pvt) Ltd., was established on the 23rd of March in 1995 with the intentions of being a key player in the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering field in Sri Lanka.

Strive to become a leading and most innovative Mechanical & Electrical Engineering firm in Sri Lanka for all private and public sector projects through solutions for air conditioning, elevators & escalators, diesel power generation, newsprint printing machinery & solutions along with maintenance and after sales services.

The company’s origins are in the air conditioning and elevator sectors whereby, Scan Engineering was appointed as a distributor of HITACHI (Singapore) Central Air conditioning equipment and DOVER Elevators (USA) as their agent.
We were also appointed as a distributor of TOSHIBA by TOSHIBA Singapore in the year 1996 (later known as Carrier TOSHIBA). With the improvements in the Asian Economies post Asian Financial Crisis of 1997, Scan Engineering implemented a “ScanAir” brand of air-conditioners with technical collaboration from a state-of-the-art factory in Thailand.
Air Conditioning Division
We were also appointed as a distributor of TOSHIBA by TOSHIBA Singapore in the year 1996 (later known as Carrier TOSHIBA). With the improvements in the Asian Economies post Asian Financial Crisis of 1997, Scan Engineering implemented a “ScanAir” brand of air-conditioners with technical collaboration from a state-of-the-art factory in Thailand.
As the potential of the the air conditioning division grew once more, TRANE India Ltd., of USA appointed Scan Engineering as their distributor in Sri Lanka and Maldives for selected projects.
Given our vast experience in the air conditioning industry we are proud to have worked with world class manufacturers. Currently, we represent the below brands executing new installations and most importantly maintenance and after sales services:
▪ Won the Silver Medal from HITACHI Central Air Conditioning Systems (Singapore). – Year 1999
▪ Supply, Installation and Maintenance of over 20,000 + TOSHIBA Split Air Conditioners. Scan Engineering is credited with introducing Split System equipment at the time (1990s) when most systems were Window Type.
▪ Won for Sales Performance of DAIKIN VRV III Air Conditioning Equipment and DAIKIN Packaged Air Conditioners product categories awarded by DAIKIN Air Conditioning (Singapore) Pte Ltd. – Year 2011
▪ Won for Sales Performance of DAIKIN VRV III Air Conditioning Equipment and DAIKIN Unitary Products (Split & Multi Split) product categories awarded by DAIKIN Air Conditioning (Singapore) Pte Ltd. – Year 2012
▪ Scan Engineering was awarded the Gold Award for “Outstanding Sales Achievement 2012” which was commemorated by receipt of a solid gold bar and commemorative trophy by DAIKIN Industries, Japan.
▪ Won for Sales Performance of DAIKIN Residential Air Conditioning Equipment awarded by DAIKIN Air Conditioning (Singapore) Pte Ltd. – Year 2013

Elevator and Escalator Division
In order to strengthen the product portfolio preceding the purchase of DOVER Elevators by ThyssenKrupp AG, Scan Engineering was a distributor of BKG GmbH of Germany and IGV SpA of Italy which appointed us as their distributor in both Sri Lanka and India for Elevators. However, Scan Engineering’s elevator division was finally consolidated as a sole distributorship was awarded at the time by ThyssenKrupp Elevator Asia Pacific Ltd., of Hong Kong for Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Scan Engineering previously represented ThyssenKrupp Elevator exclusively. We however, continue to maintain and service equipment supplied & installed by us.The elevator division’s technical staff has executed projects over 60 floors with elevator speeds at 6m/s or more. The personnel are equipped with spare parts and tools to service & maintain most elevator and escalator brands found in Sri Lanka.
Diesel Generator Division
The power systems division of Scan Engineering commenced with F.G. Wilson (Singapore) appointing Scan Engineering as their distributor along with DAEWOO Heavy Industries Ltd., of Korea in the following year (1995). Following the dismantling of the DAEWOOD Group by the Government of Korea, K2 Power Limited., of Korea appointed Scan Engineering as their distributor. Himoinsa Far East Pte Ltd., of Singapore appointed Scan Engineering as their distributor in Sri Lanka.
Newspaper Printing Machinery Division
We are the proud supplier of GOSS International (USA) high speed newspaper printing machinery to all the leading publishers in Sri Lanka. Along with Ferag AG (Switzerland), we are proud to be a part of Sri Lanka’s newspaper printing industry – having supplied and installed machinery for all the major publishers in Sri Lanka.
